Pretoria’s got talent. Real, goosebump-raising, high-note-hitting, tap-dancing talent — and for one night only, they’re lighting up the Fairtree Atterbury Theatre. On 15 October 2025, OAK Youth Theatre celebrates ten spectacular years with LEGACY: A 10 Year Celebration, a full-throttle showcase of music, memories, and magic.
Founded back in 2015 by Cameron Botha and Stephan van der Walt, OAK has spent the last decade turning everyday kids into confident performers who can belt out a ballad, nail a punchline, and still remember to smile at the lighting guy. What started as a small dream in Centurion has grown into a powerhouse of young South African talent — teaching acting, singing, and dancing while quietly shaping the next generation of theatre stars.
This milestone show isn’t just a “greatest hits” performance. It’s a time capsule of everything that’s made OAK special. Expect musical moments from productions like Shrek the Musical, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Aladdin, and more — re-imagined by current students, alumni, and the dedicated OAK team who’ve built this creative family from the ground up.
The lineup includes a mix of returning alumni such as Jaco Smith (now OAK’s resident musical director), Jackie Lulu, Miguel Deservantes, Diego Hamity, Reinier van Zyl, Danny Meaker, and Rikus Strauss — familiar faces whose journeys from stage kids to stage professionals prove that this company doesn’t just teach theatre, it builds legacies.
Cameron Botha sums it up beautifully: “Over the past ten years, OAK Youth Theatre has grown into more than just a stage for young performers — it’s become a home where talent, creativity, and confidence are nurtured.” And it shows. When co-founder Stephan van der Walt took his talents abroad, Tarryn Botha stepped in to help Cameron keep OAK thriving, while former students moved into leadership roles. It’s the kind of full-circle story that deserves a standing ovation.

LEGACY: A 10 Year Celebration takes place on 15 October 2025 at 19:30 at the Fairtree Atterbury Theatre in Pretoria. Tickets are only R150 and available through SeatMe — but considering it’s a one-night-only affair, waiting until tomorrow is a risky move.
OAK Youth Theatre isn’t just putting on a show — they’re celebrating ten years of laughter, learning, and leaving audiences in awe. If you’ve ever wanted to see what the future of South African theatre looks like, it’s standing centre stage this October… and it’s ready for applause.
