In the heart of the South African winter, the warm rhythm of music is set to envelop the country as award-winning international sensations, Deborah Cox and Musiq Soulchild, headline the phenomenal Magic Music Sessions in July. The Afro-Soul and R&B edition of the successful event will undoubtedly throb with the pulse of iconic tunes and resonant voices.

The thrilling announcement was unveiled at a special press conference at the illustrious Indaba Hotel and Conference Centre in Fourways, Johannesburg. The media event, graced by a diverse array of esteemed media personalities, was eloquently hosted by the charismatic Mbali Nkosi. The buzz in the room was palpable as the news broke – a testimony to the stature of the forthcoming entertainment spectacle.

The much-anticipated shows will kick off on the cool evening of Thursday, 27th July at the Grand West in Cape Town, with the second act coming to life at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Saturday, 29th July.

July, also known as Mandela Month, symbolises a lasting legacy. In the spirit of the legendary Nelson Mandela, Vertex Events are making strides to create their own enduring legacies within the entertainment space.

Hailing from Toronto, the accomplished Deborah Cox, a proud inductee of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, is anticipated to deliver a riveting performance. Fans can expect to relive timeless classics like ‘Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here’, ‘Where Do We Go From Here’, ‘Sentimental’, ‘Up and Down (In & Out)’ and ‘We Can’t Be Friends’. The R&B legend, Musiq Soulchild, from the heart of Philadelphia, will have his famous hits such as ‘Love’, ‘Half Crazy’, ‘Just Friends’, ‘So Beautiful’, ‘Girl Next Door’, and ‘Don’t Change’ echoing in the arenas, including his more recent offerings.

As we mark Africa Month in May, South Africa is beaming with the principles of inclusivity, diversity, and openness, sharing its grandest stages with legendary artists like Deborah Cox and Musiq Soulchild. It’s a celebration of a global music community converging on South African soil.

Supporting these international sensations, the talented and ever-beloved South African artists Vusi Nova and Ami Faku will also grace the stage, adding a unique local flavour to the mix.

Magic Music Sessions promise to deliver two core elements – exhilarating live music and dynamic bands. Music aficionados will be catered for, as they have been in all previous events.

Thato Segaole, Vertex Events Executive Director, expresses their vision, “We plan on delivering nothing short of a star-studded event. Attendees can expect memorable shows, as all the artists and their discographies will be amplified through a world-class production. Music will indeed be a universal language.”
