A couple of aliens, Zog and Blorp, decide they’ve had enough of staring at the stars and want to check out this little blue planet we call Earth. They hear all sorts of wild things about humans, but one thing stands out: our bizarre obsession with pineapple on pizza. Seriously, who wouldn’t be curious? After all, if you were an alien trying to understand Earth culture, wouldn’t you want to know why we’re arguing over fruit-topped flatbreads?
Now, Zog and Blorp land in a typical suburban neighbourhood—because, let’s be honest, where else would they go? They hop out of their shiny spaceship, which is definitely not made of pizza, and instantly spot a family gathered around a table, having a heated discussion. Is it a political debate? A scientific breakthrough? Nope. It’s a pineapple pizza debate.
“What in the galaxy is happening?” Zog asks, squinting at the human family, who are animatedly gesturing towards a box of pizza. “Why do they care so much about a fruit on their food?”
“Maybe it’s some kind of ritual?” Blorp replies, scratching his three heads in confusion. “Humans are such strange creatures. I thought they were smart, but they can’t even agree on their toppings!”
As the aliens take cover behind a bush (because who wants to be the target of a pizza debate?), they begin to analyse the scene. On one side, you have the die-hard fans of pineapple pizza, passionately declaring it’s the perfect blend of sweet and savoury. On the other side, you’ve got the purists, horrified at the thought of putting fruit on their beloved pizza. They’re practically clutching their hearts, and Zog swears he saw one of them faint.
“Why do they care so much?” Zog wonders aloud. “It’s just pizza!”
Blorp nods sagely. “It’s not just pizza, my friend. It’s a matter of life and death—or at least, that’s what these humans make it sound like. What if we tried to understand their ways? Maybe there’s a deep cultural significance behind this pizza dilemma?”
So, Zog and Blorp devise a plan: they decide to conduct a “taste test” of their own. They venture into a local pizzeria—disguised as humans, of course. (Imagine a tall alien trying to fit in at a pizza joint; the visual alone is enough to make you chuckle.)
As they order a half-and-half pizza (half pineapple, half whatever the humans call “normal”), they listen to the conversations around them. One guy at the counter rants about how pineapple on pizza is a crime against humanity, while a woman nearby defends her choice like a knight in shining armour. “It’s the best! If you haven’t tried it, you can’t judge!” she says, as if she’s discussing the fate of the universe.
After much deliberation, Zog and Blorp finally get their pizza and find a cozy booth in the corner, ready to experience the legendary flavours. They take their first bites, and their eyes widen in surprise.
“By the moons of Zogthar! This is… amazing!” Zog exclaims, his tentacles flailing in excitement. “The sweetness of the pineapple combined with the gooey cheese—it’s like a party in my mouth!”
Blorp, however, has a different reaction. “What is this abomination?!” he cries, dramatically waving his arms. “How can you mix such divine cheese with—fruit?!”
The debate inside the pizzeria rages on, and Zog and Blorp realise they’ve stumbled upon the essence of humanity. We may disagree about pineapple on pizza, but it brings us together in a way that’s uniquely human.
As the aliens finish their meal, they come to a conclusion. “Maybe the pineapple pizza debate isn’t about the pizza at all,” Zog muses, licking cheese off his tentacle. “It’s about passion, connection, and a good laugh. And who knows? Maybe we should take a few slices back to the ship for a taste-test with the intergalactic council!”
Blorp shakes his head, but he’s chuckling. “Let’s just hope they don’t start a debate about it up there. We might end up in a cosmic food fight!”
And so, Zog and Blorp leave Earth, with full bellies and a newfound appreciation for human quirks. They might not have cracked the code of why we’re obsessed with pineapple pizza, but they definitely learned that sometimes, it’s the silliness of life that brings us all together—even across galaxies.
