Wonderland is here! Panto is live at Joburg Theatre. Are you ready?
Janice Honeyman’s Alice in Wonderland is now on stage, bringing music, mischief and festive magic to Johannesburg until 24 December 2026.
Johannesburg, 29 October 2026: The wait is over, the rabbit hole is open and Wonderland is calling. Janice Honeyman’s new and original 2026 pantomime, Alice in Wonderland, is now on stage at Joburg Theatre, inviting audiences to leave the ordinary behind and step into a world where curiosity leads the way.
Running until 24 December 2026, this year’s production brings Lewis Carroll’s beloved characters to life with colourful costumes, original music, spectacular production numbers and plenty of pantomime humour. Whether a trip to the panto is your family’s annual tradition or a first-time adventure, now is the time to choose your date and book your seats.

After all, the White Rabbit is already running late. There is no reason your ticket booking should follow his example.
Alice’s adventure begins when she follows a mysterious White Rabbit into Wonderland, a place where tea parties turn chaotic, animals have plenty to say and the Queen of Hearts expects everything to go her way. From a mischievous Cheshire Cat and an eccentric Mad Hatter to a most unusual croquet match, an outrageous tart bake-off and the mystery of the missing tarts, there is something unexpected around every corner.
Leading the journey is Ashley Scott as Alice, joined by Desmond Dube as Dame Nanny Fanny Floppalot, Russel Savadier as narrator Lewis Carroll and Brendan Van Rhyn as the formidable Queen of Hearts.
Bongi Archi brings the White Rabbit to life, while Charlie Bouguenon takes on the wonderfully eccentric Mad Hatter. Siya Makakane appears as the Cheshire Cat, Lesedi Rich as the Caterpillar and Danny Meaker as Jack of Hearts, supported by a talented ensemble.

Together, they fill Wonderland with the larger-than-life personalities, comedy and musical moments that make a Janice Honeyman pantomime such a treasured festive outing.
Beneath the fun and fantastical characters lies a story about courage, individuality and learning to trust yourself. As Alice finds her way through a world that rarely makes sense, she discovers the value of her own voice and the confidence to be herself. It is a message for children finding their feet and adults who occasionally need reminding.
With Janice Honeyman at the helm, the creative team includes Associate Director Tim Le Roux, Musical Director Dale Ray, Choreographer Khaya Ndlovu, Costume Designer Mariska Meyer, Production Designer Andrew Timm, Sound Designer Akhona Bozo and Lighting Designer Johan Ferreira.
For families planning a festive outing, friends looking for something memorable to do together or theatre lovers ready for their annual panto visit, Alice in Wonderland offers an invitation to laugh, imagine and share the excitement of live performance.
Make the plans, gather your favourite people and get your tickets. Wonderland is ready for you.
