Every now and then, a show comes along that doesn’t just entertain you—it completely lifts you out of your seat, fills your chest with awe, and leaves you walking out with your heart doing cartwheels. That’s Worlds Away at The Cirk. And I mean this with every ounce of sincerity: THIS SHOW IS MAGICAL.
From the very first beat of the music to the final gravity-defying stunt, this production is a jaw-dropping visual feast. The lighting, the set design, the costumes—everything is a perfectly orchestrated burst of colour, creativity, and clever storytelling. You can tell that the cast and crew put their souls into this. It’s definitely labour of love.
The music was absolutely on point—alive, pulsing with energy, and matched perfectly to every leap, twist, and narrative beat. And the performers? They weren’t just smiling for the sake of it (Yes, we have all been in those shows where you think, damn, their jawlines must be killing them because of that forced smile). You could see the joy pouring out of them. This was passion. Raw, bright, contagious passion.

Special mention—no, make that a standing ovation—to Claudia Moruzzi, who not only designed the costumes (and what costumes they were! Flowing, vibrant, fantastical masterpieces that danced with the performers) but also took on the role of narrator. And what a narrator! Playful, mischievous, cheeky in all the right ways—her connection with the audience brought the whole journey to life. She made sure that you were part of a cosmic fairytale, guided by someone who clearly loves the world she helped bring to life.
Another massive shout-out to Phillip Kleyhans. Even on a stage filled with brilliance, he stood out. His movement was crisp, intentional, and captivating. And that smile? That smile could light up a whole city block. He turned every moment into something unforgettable.( Also, he twirled with such precision, I nearly lost my balance just watching. How on earth…)
And then there’s Brian Bongani Ngobese. Wow. Just wow. His charisma could reach the back row without a mic. His technique? Impeccable. The audience couldn’t take their eyes off him. He owns the stage in a way that feels effortless—born for it, really. Humour + Talent = Brian Bongani Ngobese.
But it doesn’t stop there. This entire cast? Every single one of them delivered a 10/10 performance. Dancers, aerialists, acrobats—every performer brought something extraordinary to the stage. Worlds Away is definitely a show that you need to SEE and FEEL yourself to really appreciate it.
And the story? Clever, funny, heartfelt, and filled with cheeky little moments that had both kids and adults laughing, gasping, and clapping like their lives depended on it. It’s a smorgasbord of fantasy, fun, and fierce talent.
