Joburg Ballet has revealed an impressive array of dancers for the principal roles in Don Quixote, as the glittering classic makes its comeback to the Joburg Theatre for eight performances from 29 September to 8 October.
During two of the eight performances, Joburg Ballet will feature major international ballet stars Marianela Nuñez and Vadim Muntagirov of The Royal Ballet in the principal roles. As previously mentioned, Nuñez and Muntagirov will perform on Friday 6 October at 19h00 and Sunday 8 October at 14h00.

The remaining six performances will highlight Joburg Ballet’s own Tammy Higgins and Revil Yon, Monike Cristina and Ivan Domiciano, and Darragh Hourrides and Ruan Galdino.
Located in the vibrant Spanish seaport of Barcelona, Don Quixote narrates the tale of the stunning and daring Kitri and her affection for the handsome yet impoverished Basilio. Nevertheless, her father has grander aspirations for his stubborn daughter, intending to wed her to a rich, silly suitor. Ultimately, love triumphs in a torrent of classical ballet at its most magnificent.
Angela Malan is directing Don Quixote for Joburg Ballet, and the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Lykele Temmingh, will perform at all shows except at 11h00 on 5 and 6 October.
Joburg Ballet expresses its gratitude to The Michel Tesson Trust and the Friends of the Ballet for their generous support, which has enabled the season of Don Quixote.
Unfortunately, no ticket discounts are available for the Marianela Nuñez and Vadim Muntagirov performances. However, for all other performances, Joburg Ballet provides appealing discounts, including the Half Price Opening Night, Morning Matinees, and discounts for Friends of the Ballet members, Pensioners, Groups of 10 or more, and Children aged 4-7.
