Once upon a time in Oshawa, Ontario, a balloon wizard by the name of Mike Verge set out on a whimsical adventure, armed with nothing but an endless supply of colourful balloons and a vivid imagination. You see, dear reader, Mike wasn’t your ordinary balloon artist. He specialised in conjuring larger-than-life balloon sculptures that would leave onlookers in awe, as they marvelled at the thousands of inflatables that took shape before their eyes.

This extraordinary tale began 30 years ago when Mike first discovered his passion for twisting balloons. His enchanting creations would go on to win him first place in a dozen global competitions, earning him the prestigious title of an eight-time world champion balloon artist! Today, Mike shares his delightful gift through his magical business, Xtreme Balloons.

Mike’s spellbinding portfolio boasts a plethora of fantastical creations, including a life-size Flintstones car (with Fred and Dino along for the ride), Bumblebee from Transformers, Baymax of Big Hero 6, and even the fearsome characters from Alien vs. Predator! Yet, it’s Mike’s awe-inspiring life-size dinosaur sculptures that truly steal the show. His first prehistoric masterpiece—a T. rex skeleton crafted from over 1,400 balloons—measured a whopping 12 metres long and took a staggering 55 hours to create! Other magnificent balloon dinos in Mike’s collection include the Stegosaurus, Utahraptor, Allosaurus, and Spinosaurus.
