I’m thrilled to share an experience like no other – a world where fantasy meets thrills, seduction meets suspense, and every moment is packed with edgy surprises. Let me introduce you to Cabinet of Fearrositease, a mesmerising burlesque variety show that will take you on a wild journey through the most captivating forms of tease, right here in Johannesburg! Hosted by none other than Vintage Nouveau Burlesque, this dazzling show promises an evening of both frills and thrills that’ll have you longing for more. If you’ve been craving something uniquely bold and dazzlingly beautiful, then you absolutely must get yourself a ticket.

Vintage Nouveau Burlesque is pulling out all the stops this year with Cabinet of Fearrositease at Theatre in the Park, Delta Park, and believe me, it’s a show not to be missed! Taking place over two nights, 29 and 30 November 2024, at 8 PM (though I recommend arriving early, as doors open at 6:30 PM), this tantalising experience promises an evening where anything can happen – and probably will.
Vintage Nouveau Burlesque, founded in 2018, has evolved into South Africa’s premier troupe of tease and tease-inspired performance. With each show, they push the boundaries of theatrical burlesque. Surviving the tough years through Covid and now more vibrant and bold than ever, they’ve assembled a cast as varied as it is captivating. This year, they’ve welcomed fabulous new performers to their ranks – all bursting with their unique blend of sass, humour, and, yes, an abundance of sex appeal. Every performer brings something distinctly thrilling, from Queerlesque and Draglesque to Boylesque and Neolesque, proving that the art of burlesque is as diverse as it is tantalising.
On stage, you’ll be captivated by Vintage Nouveau’s sensational talents, including the striking Brock Hard, whose 15 years of dance experience infuse his performances with a lively charisma and unparalleled skill. Blending ballroom and contemporary moves with a cheeky edge, Brock’s teasing charisma connects effortlessly with the audience, leaving everyone cheering by the end.
Franco, aka Angemon, is the show’s heartbeat and driving force, with two decades of event and music expertise. His dedication and vision breathe life into every production aspect, from lighting to sound, setting the perfect stage for each performer to shine.

Adding to this scintillating line-up is Lady Nightshade, who guides you through a whimsical land of “sugar and sass.” Since her start in 2017, Lady Nightshade has mastered a signature blend of comedic and neo-burlesque with a touch of vintage glamour. Her acts bring a balance of naughty and nice, making her the perfect treat for this glittering celebration of tease.
Then there’s Miggie Antoinette, with all the grandeur and wit of royalty but a touch of clownish flair. Known for exquisite makeup and clever humour, Miggie’s “Drag Clownery” and unconventional charm add a unique edge to the show, while their infectious energy is sure to keep audiences on their toes.

MisAndry brings their ironic and subversive gender-bending performance to the stage, exploring and challenging societal norms with a mix of drag, physical theatre, and playful humour. With over 15 years of experience in theatre, MisAndry’s character is as thought-provoking as it is entertaining, giving audiences a reason to question while they laugh and cheer.
Rumoured to be the love child of David Hasselhoff and Patricia Lewis, Miss Sassy Strudel is one of Joburg’s most beloved performers. With her award-winning Tournament of Tease background, Sassy Strudel’s acts are a glittery blend of seductive sass and humour, making her one of the show’s must-see stars.

Venus Stormheart embodies the fierce allure of a tempest. With an air of wild unpredictability, Venus captures the audience with her storm-like presence and electrifying passion, leaving her mark as one of the most powerful sirens of the stage.
Finally, Tom Cat rounds out the line-up as Vintage Nouveau’s mischievous MC. This Karoo-born character has charmed his way into the troupe, bringing playful energy and wit to his hosting duties. His love for fun and knack for cheeky commentary ensure the night is as entertaining between acts as it is during them.

Meet Rusty Bloom & Mistress Moon, the unbreakable stage support of Vintage Nouveau Burlesque! Whether wrangling props, setting the scene, or adding a touch of magic backstage, Rusty & Moon are the unseen heroes keeping the show running smoothly. Known for their quick wit and even quicker hands, they bring both grit and charm to every performance.

The Cabinet of Fearrositease show presents a thrilling variety of styles that defy traditional burlesque. This is an eclectic collection of glamour, playfulness, and camp, with each performer offering their unique flavour of tease and allure. Whether you’re drawn to vintage glamour, dramatic Draglesque, or the unexpected twists of Nerdlesque, there’s something here for every taste.
