Are you ready to take a journey? Ziggy Alberts is inviting you to join him as he explores the depths of the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia in his new music video for his album title track, “Dancing in the Dark.” This video, filmed by ocean videographer Andre Rerekura, captures Ziggy in genuine emotion and reflective stillness as he experiences the beauty of the reef and its sea life.

The Ningaloo Reef is a World Heritage Site on Australia’s north-western coastline where the desert meets the sea. This coastline is home to a diverse array of habitats, including coral reefs, lagoons, sandy beaches, estuaries, and mangroves. Initiatives led by organizations such as Protect Ningaloo aim to protect, raise awareness, and engage conservation efforts for the reef, range, and gulf. We acknowledge Baiyungu, Thalanyji and Yinikurtura People as the original custodians of the land and Water of the Nyinggulu Coast.

“Dancing in the Dark,” according to Ziggy, “is the crowning achievement” for the ‘future folk’ concept his latest album seeks to capture. The song was penned as a reminder to inspire courage and lightness in the face of sadness and chaos. Ziggy’s most recent full-length studio album, ‘Dancing in the Dark,’ sits in a genre – self-titled by Ziggy – as “Future Folk.” In his own words, “the album is a blend of the honest and raw, with the smoothness and touch of synthesised soundscapes, intentional tuning and programmed organic samples… that reflects accurately the range of experiences we are having as humans in our current world.” Matched with Ziggy’s storytelling and sincere songwriting, the new record shows yet another step in Alberts’ growth as an artist, his music and personal explorations, both introspectively and in the natural world.

Skye Mallac from Texx and the City says, “Ziggy Alberts is an Aussie troubadour, songwriter and poet. His visceral lyrics tell deeply personal stories of life, love, the human condition, and the cultural complexities we navigate – while his catchy acoustics deliver each message with the sort of indie-folk simplicity that sticks.” Atwood from UK adds, “Ziggy Alberts has always imbued his art with a special aura – this ineffable warm glow resonating throughout his songs – yet never before has he shined as bright or sounded as bold as he does on his fifth studio album. The coastal folk singer/songwriter turns his visceral inward focus out on society and the world at large in searching for freedom, a record whose powerful messages of sustainability, peace, justice, and understanding are sure to resonate with all who listen.” Triple J also states that “For fans who’ve been following Ziggy’s career from day dot, his increasing popularity wouldn’t come as a shock. To everyone else, the Ziggy story is probably still something of a surprise. He’s a self-made success, and it’s a grassroots swell plenty of people are getting behind”, and Pop Wrapped from US says “Alberts has proven time and again that his back-to-basics approach to production and songwriting has left him one of the most reliably authentic artists on the scene.”

So come and take a journey with Ziggy Alberts as he explores the depths of the Ningaloo Reef in his new music video for “Dancing in the Dark.”
