Hot Wheels has been putting tiny, perfectly detailed cars into pockets for nearly 60 years. Now Mattel Brick Shop wants you to build them yourself.
Mattel has announced the Mattel Brick Shop Hot Wheels Racer Series, a new collection of buildable vehicles that brings the brand’s signature attention to detail and premium materials to the classic 1:64 scale that Hot Wheels fans know so well. The series debuts with six cars, launches in January 2027 and will grow to 20 collectible models by the end of next year.

Six cars in the first wave
The first wave mixes modern performance machines, enthusiast favourites and one proper Hot Wheels original:
- ’24 Camaro ZL1 (29 pieces)
- ’18 Audi TT RS (29 pieces)
- Maserati MCPura (27 pieces)
- ’91 Acura NSX (29 pieces)
- ’99 Honda S2000 (29 pieces)
- Hot Wheels Bone Shaker (28 pieces)
With piece counts sitting between 27 and 29, these are quick, satisfying builds rather than weekend-long projects, and the sets are rated for ages 6 and up.

Small builds with real detail
Each model comes with a metal base plate, functional metal axles with rolling wheels, rubber-like tyres and custom pieces designed to capture the distinctive shape of each car. Smooth resin bricks click together easily, and step-by-step instructions guide you through the build.
That metal base and those rolling wheels are what make this range interesting. These are not only display pieces that look like Hot Wheels cars, they keep some of the feel that made die-cast cars so addictive in the first place.

A new way into Mattel Brick Shop
Mattel Brick Shop launched in 2025 and has steadily grown its portfolio of detailed, customisable building sets inspired by iconic automotive brands and fan-favourite franchises. The Racer Series gives car fans and collectors a smaller, more approachable way in, at a more accessible suggested retail price.

Ted Wu, General Manager and Global Head of Vehicles and Building Sets at Mattel, said the aim was to bring the Mattel Brick Shop approach to the scale that has defined Hot Wheels die-cast cars for decades.
Through thoughtful design and engineering, we have accomplished this without compromising the authentic details, craftsmanship and quality that has defined Hot Wheels for generations. The result is a building experience that feels distinctly Mattel Brick Shop and unmistakenly Hot Wheels.
Ted Wu, Mattel
