For over 75 years you’ve called him The Dark Knight or called him The Caped Crusader, regardless of what you call him, this superhero has captured the hearts and minds of so many people across generations, languages and more. Batman continues to grow as one of the most popular superheroes in the comic book-themed community both online and through classic paperback comics.

Whether it’s his crazy gadgets, his ridiculously amazing crime-fighting skills, or the sweet sweet ride he tends to show up him, the Batmobile, there’s always something to love about Mr Wayne’s alter ego. That’s why I have decided to tell you a bit more random facts about Batman that you might not have heard about before. He is so much more than just a billionaire with insomnia.

Artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger are the creators of the original character. Although the original character Bat-Man looked very different than the one we have gotten to know and love.

Batman’s fame came from his comic Batman released in 1940, but he first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939.

Batman has had his fair share of love interests, I mean he does have the charisma and charm to swoon most folks! – Over the years he had his moments with characters such as Julie Madison, Vicki Vale, Catwoman and surprisingly Wonderwoman.

The superhero’s real name Bruce Wayne is a combination of Robert the Bruce and Mad Anthony Wayne – a Scottish and American Revolutionary Hero respectively.

In order, they are Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, and Damian Wayne. However, there were also 3 other female robins. The female robins are Stephanie Brown, Carrie Kelly, and Helena Wayne. In other alternate series of the comics, Helena never becomes robin.

JonDoe297 is the online handle used by Bruce Wayne himself.

I am sure you’ve heard about Batman and Robin being more than just friend’s jokes throughout the years. Well, psychiatrist DR Frederic Wertham in the 1950s openly accused Bruce Wayne and his sidekick of having a more than friends’ relationship, believing the two were romantically involved.

Batman Beat Darkseid… Twice!

Batman’s favourite food is Mulligatawny soup. Seen in Batman #701 Alfred prepares a tired Batman his favourite comfort food. The dish originates from South Indian Cuisine.

Batman is also a city in Turkey. The city was formerly known as Iluha but changed its name to Batman in 1957.

Batman always carries Kryptonite in his utility belt just in case Superman goes rogue one day.

Batman has had many encounters with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Batman is technically Superman’s boss as Bruce Wayne owns the daily planet.

Actors who have played batman – Lewis Wilson, Robert Lowery, Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck and the latest to the Bat-Family is now Robert Pattinson. Who is your favourite?
